Get super glue off your countertop

You’ve done a little repair project, and now you're wondering how to get super glue off the counter.  This is actually a pretty common problem. You can get super glue off virtually any kitchen countertop by following the instructions below. Remove super glue from granite countertops, quartz countertops, laminate countertops, and more in minutes.

How to get super glue off a counter

The best time to get super glue off the countertop is before the glue has dried. Simply wipe up the excess glue with a damp paper towel or disposable cloth. Repeat if necessary and finish up by washing the area with soap and water.

If any residue remains, try wiping the area with a small amount of acetone (nail polish remover) on a clean cloth.

If the super glue has already cured, proceed as follows:

  1. Using a razor or putty knife, carefully scrape away as much of the super glue as you can. Avoid scratching the surface by laying the blade on a steep angle and using very little downward pressure.
  2. Wet a clean towel with warm water and place it on top of the remaining glue. Allow it to soak for several minutes. This should soften the glue.
  3. Scrub the area with a sponge and warm soapy water.
  4. If soapy water fails to soften the glue, apply some acetone to a cloth and place it in contact with the glue. Once the glue has softened, scrape it away as described under (1.), and then clean away any remaining glue with the cloth and acetone.

When using acetone or any other solvent, always test the chemical on an inconspicuous part of the counter to make sure it doesn’t damage or discolour the countertop.
